Pet Exercise Area

The Sun Prairie Pet Exercise Area (Dog Park) is a fully fenced-in, off-leash exercise area that is open year round form dawn until dusk, The Pet Exercise Area is located on 11 acres and is equipped with parking for 32 cars, picnic tables, benches, shelter and waste disposal bags. There is also water and a portable restroom available.

A permit is required to use the Pet Exercise Area. Annual permits can be purchased online or in person at the City Clerk's Office in City Hall (300 East Main Street). This permit is valid for use in all Dane County dog parks as well as the Sun Prairie Pet Exercise Area.  The annual permit fees (January - December) are listed below.  Daily permits are also available on a self-registration basis on site for $5 per dog per day.

Dog Park Rules & Regulations

• Designated Pet Exercise Area Location. The location of the pet exercise area will be along South Bird Street. The eleven (11) acre site is located on the former landfill.
• Each pet utilizing the area is required to have a valid user permit. Annual permits will be valid from January 1 to December 31 of each year and can be obtained from the city clerk's office.
• The hours of operation for the area will be daily from dawn until dusk.
• The area will be considered an "off leash" area. However, all off leash pets must be under voice control of their owner at all times.
• All pets are required to be current with vaccinations and wear owner identification and a valid dog license at all times.
• Owners are required to clean up after pets at all times.
• Other Regulations. Unless otherwise defined, all regulations outlined in this chapter remain in effect and are applicable.
