COMMERCIAL PLAN REVIEW
The City of Sun Prairie is an authorized agent of the Wisconsin Division of Industry Services to perform plan examinations for all size projects within the City of Sun Prairie. This includes:
- Building Construction
- Building Construction Components
- Building HVAC Systems
- Means of Egress Illumination
- Energy Conservation
- Fire Sprinkler Systems
- Fire Alarm Systems
- Plumbing Systems
- Plumbing Infiltration Systems
Beginning July 1, 2024, the City has partnered with E-Plan Exam to conduct reviews of all building, HVAC, and plumbing plans.
For all new submittals of the following plans, you will need to complete an application form, and upload the application and all required submittal docs to the E-Plan Exam web portal

For all revisions to previously approved plans submitted to the City of Sun Prairie prior to July 1st, please email those revisions to buildinginspection@cityofsunprairie.com, and reference your original Plan Review Record ID. Please do not submit those to E-Plan Exam.

All Fire Alarm and Fire Suppression system plans will continue to be reviewed by the City of Sun Prairie Fire Department, through the City's OpenGov online portal. Plan review is required for all changes to Fire Alarm, Fire Suppression, and Kitchen Hood Suppression Systems.
You will need to upload all plans and supporting documents during the application process. The application will be reviewed and fee payment will be required prior to review.

-Building, Mechanical, or Fire Plan Compliance Statement (PDF) is required for certain projects prior to final inspection. At this time this form will need to be uploaded to your application via your OpenGov dashboard at the conclusion of the project. This will convert to an online form at a future date.
